Event Details

Bay Area Classical Harmonies presents “Mozart and Beethoven Concert”, performing W.A. Mozart’s Requiem, Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No.4 & Choral Fantasy for Piano, Orchestra, and Chorus. With this concert, B.A.C.H. brings monumental works of both choral and orchestra by these two Viennese masters. This concert features pianist Boaz Simovici with BACH Chorus and Orchestra conducted by Founder / Director of B.A.C.H. Andrew J. Chung.

This concert program was inspired by Beethoven’s ambitious programming from his famous performance of the Choral Fantasy December 22nd, 1808. This same concert included premieres of his Fifth and Sixth Symphonies, as well as performance of portion of the C major mass.

Bay Area Classical Harmonies

Called by some "the most versatile group in the Bay Area," BACH's impressive range of repertoire has included cantatas, symphonies and masses. The Opera division, incorporating stage professionals and up-and-comers, first performed at the Julia Morgan Center for the Arts, presenting a concert version of Mozart's "Le Nozze di Figaro" in December 2000. Since its inception in 1998 by graduate and undergraduate students of the Music Department of UC Berkeley, BACH has cultivated young musical talent through the performance of great classical works for audiences in the Bay Area and beyond. The group attained non-profit status in May 2002, promoting professionalism and providing tax benefits to its donors.
